As a governor you would be part of a team. The governing body has a range of important responsibilities. These include working closely with the headteacher and staff to shape the future of the school, to decide the priorities that will help staff to raise academic standards and determine how the school will best spend its money to achieve these aims.
Governors are people like you. No formal qualifications are necessary. You will want to make a positive contribution, show interest and play a full part in the life and work of the governing body and the school.
You will need to attend probably four meetings a term, often in the evening, and visit the school when it is 'at work' during the day from time to time.
